SIGDOC sponsors a number of awards and grants as a means of recognizing outstanding contributions to the field.

Awards

Awards are presented at the SIGDOC conference.

The Rigo Award is presented to an individual for a lifetime of significant work in the design of communication. Rigo Awards are given every other year, during even-numbered years.

The Diana Award is given every other year, during odd-numbered years, to an organization which has collectively made an impact on the field.

The winner of the Student Research Competition is provided with subsidized participation in the SIGDOC conference, and the opportunity to publish and present their work.

Grants

The Career Advancement Research Grant (CARG) program is specifically designed for early career and/or junior faculty who are working on one of their first major projects related to the design of communication. Scholars at all levels are encouraged to apply, especially doctoral students, junior faculty, and members at non-research institutions.

The Design Justice Program Grant allocates $2000 each year to support justice-centered initiatives in the design of communication. This money directly supports SIGDOC members in projects growing out of organizational relationships.
