Hi everyone – this is Krystin Gollihue of Losing Access. I wanted to welcome attendees and say I’m happy to answer questions or help move discussion along. Thanks so much for visiting Group 21!

Hello all! This is Jessica Fletcher from Losing Access. I am excited to be here and “attend” this conference and learn more about others’ experiences! Looking forward to discussions!

Thank you all so much for these presentations! I want to share a few of my takeaways from all the presentations. From Henry Covey’s presentation, I was struck by the difference in criteria and focus for faculty and student users–and thinking about what elements should take priority and how to reconcile those differences.

From the Losing Access panel, I thought the application of UX frameworks to understand student experience to be helpful–and to help address problems. My question is how to imbue those principles into say, a Center for Teaching and Learning, to keep a small group of experts/teachers from being overburdened!

In Gavin Johnson’s presentation, I appreciated the distinction between collaboration and coalition, and I’m considering how many of the issues I attempt to address in the classroom when using team projects (particularly in engineering contexts) could benefit from an explicitly coalitional approach. Gavin, is your paper in the proceedings? I couldn’t find it, but I’d love to read more if you have something published from this.

Finally, the Slack as a Pedagogical Tool panel: I immediately thought it would be a how-to for using Slack, but it was so much more! I should have known, of course, that you all would address the larger possibilities for supporting students–and the WARM framework is something to keep in mind to critically assess how we use technologies and why we use them (instead of getting caught up in a “ooh, cool tool” mentality).

Thanks to all the presenters for your research!

Hello, as a student myself it was interesting to hear professors’ perspectives on the move to remote learning. In the “Losing Access” presentation, what do you mean by “mandatory user design in LMS”?
