The co-located CPTSC-SIGDOC conference will be held in the Texas Tech University (TTU) Student Union Building (SUB) on campus. Airports

Local Transportation

To and From Airport

Ride shares are the most viable option to get from the airport to one’s lodging. The 20-minute rides from the airport to downtown range from $35–$45 depending on the time of day. In addition, certain hotels may offer an airport shuttle service, so consider that and follow up directly with your chosen accommodations.

Rental Cars

Rental cars are available from the airport and other locations around town. Visitors are also suggested to consider car sharing apps for peer-to-peer rentals.

There are paid parking garages and paid street parking within the university.

Note:TTU football is playing against Oklahoma State on Saturday (10/25). We expect campus to be busy leading up to that weekend. Parking will be very limited. We suggest using a carpool or ride sharing services (Uber/Lyft) to get to and from campus.

TTU campus offers Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) parking throughout campus parking lots near entrances to buildings. Visitors wishing to utilize handicapped parking spaces on campus must have a state-issued placard from the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles. Accessible parking is located on the west side of the United Supermarkets Arena entrance for those with a handicapped parking pass. Please check the visitor parking map at https://www.depts.ttu.edu/parking/InformationFor/Visitors/VisitorParkingMap.php for specific accessible spaces.

Most of the conference activities will be held in the Student Union Building (SUB). Other facilities, including the Humanities Building (English home), are within walking distance (less than 0.25 miles) of the SUB.

On conference days, hot coffee, tea, and water are provided. Additionally, there are numerous coffee and light breakfast spots in the area. Lunch

Lunch is included on Friday (SIGDOC – lunch buffet) and Saturday (SIGDOC – boxed sandwiches/wraps). Conference attendees can try a variety of delicacies on-campus (in the SUB) or nearby campus:

Weather & Packing Guidance

October in Lubbock features pleasant fall weather with daily highs ranging from 81°F to 70°F and overnight lows around 52°F. The semi-arid climate means low humidity and minimal rainfall. Bring layers for significant temperature variation––light sweaters for cool mornings/evenings, short-sleeves for warm afternoons. Use comfortable walking shoes for campus navigation, and a light jacket for potential rain.
